Cute lil' cakie and marriages

The Boy surprised me with this adorable mini New York cheesecake on the night of my birthday : )

Birthdays have kinda lost significance for me somehow.  I used to make a huge deal outta it and wanted to celebrate each year with weeks of celebrations with friends.  Now?  I've streamlined my life a lot.  But am still enjoying life as is : )

**********

Reading about fat acceptance led to some write-ups about men who're no longer sexually attracted to their fat wives.  This doesn't mean they don't love their wives; they're just not willing to be physically intimate any more.  There has been furious debate over this.

Men complain that when they married their wives, the women were slim and attractive.  They didn't expect that, once these women settled down into married life, they would balloon and turn obese.  They no longer dress up; they're sloppy with appearance.  Although they very much wish they could still be turned on by their spouses, they simply cannot.

The women think that these men are ungrateful.  They bore the children, have to cook and clean and work.  How are they able to find time to do something to lose the weight?  There isn't time to dress and doll up when they're so busy with the kids.  Also, didn't the men vow to love them for better or for worse?

This led to women calling the husbands ungrateful, selfish and shallow.  Whilst I can see both sides of the coin, it's really sad that marriages turn out like this.  Although the reasons the women give are fully legitimate, there's no excuse for being sloppy and not dressing up.

We all need to at least present ourselves in the most favourable light and make the most of our best features.  Let's face it; not all of us are blessed to be supermodels.  I'm not and that's ok.  But it doesn't mean I need to give up, not style my hair and not bothering with my clothes and accessories, right?

Signing Off,
